Getting Started
-
I don't offer free 15-minute consultations, and here's why: 15 minutes isn't really enough time for either of us to get a sense of whether we're a good fit. A full first session gives us both something real to work with. Most major insurance plans are accepted, so for many people the first session is covered the same way any therapy session would be. Booking a first session doesn't mean you're committing to anything. Sometimes it takes a session or two to know if the fit is right, and that's completely fine.
-
Booking depends on your insurance and the type of therapy you're looking for.
Visit the Contact page for step-by-step booking instructions, or reach out and I'll point you in the right direction.

The honest answer is that you'll have a much better sense after a session than you will from reading a profile or a phone call. I can tell you that I work well with people who are ready to engage (though that doesn’t mean you need to have to have anything figured out, or always agree with me–in fact I prefer it if you let me know when you don’t). If you're looking for someone to mostly listen and hand out advice, I'm probably not the right fit, and I'd rather be upfront about that. If you have questions before booking, absolutely reach out.
-
No. I work with teenagers ages 11 and up, as well as adults. If you're looking for a therapist for a younger child, I'm happy to help point you toward the right resources.
-
No. I am licensed in Vermont only, so all clients must be located in Vermont at the time of their session. This applies to telehealth sessions as well.
-
Yes. I'm in-network with more than 40 plans. Visit the Fees & Insurance Page for the full list of insurances and rates.
Sessions & Scheduling
-
All sessions are conducted via telehealth using secure video. You can join from anywhere in Vermont, no commute needed.
-
Standard sessions are 53 minutes. In some cases, session length may be adjusted to 30 or 45 minutes based on clinical need and scheduling.
-
Session frequency is flexible and tailored to what you need. Options include weekly, biweekly, every three weeks, or monthly. Some clients come for focused short-term work; others prefer ongoing maintenance sessions or tune ups. We'll figure out what makes sense for your situation and goals.
-
To ensure appointment availability and respect for scheduled session times, the following cancellation policy applies:
Cancellations made between 48 and 24 hours before a scheduled appointment will incur a $100 cancellation fee.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment will incur a $150 cancellation fee.
No-show appointments will incur a $200 fee.
Clients who arrive 10 minutes or more late for a scheduled session may be considered a late cancellation and subject to the applicable cancellation fee.
Cancellation fees are not billable to insurance and are the sole responsibility of the client.
For any cancellation or scheduling change, clients should notify me by text message at 917-836-0099.
If an emergency arises, exceptions may be made at my discretion. In some cases, if scheduling permits, a missed appointment may be rescheduled within the same calendar week to avoid a cancellation fee.
Privacy & Confidentiality
-
Yes. Everything shared in therapy is confidential, with a few important exceptions required by law:
Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult (33 V.S.A. §§ 4913, 6903)
Imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others
Court orders or other legal requirements
If you are receiving substance use treatment, your records may carry additional protections under 42 CFR Part 2, a federal law that limits disclosure and generally requires your written consent before records can be shared (even with other providers) except in limited circumstances.
-
I use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, so your sessions stay private and secure.
When Therapy Ends
-
Therapy is meant to be a collaborative process. That includes how and when it ends. Sessions may wrap up when your goals are met, when therapy is no longer the most useful form of support, or when life circumstances change.
When possible, we plan for this together. If a different type of support or a different provider would serve you better, I'll tell you and help with referrals where I can.
-
If something isn't feeling right, say so. That conversation is part of the work, and it's useful information. Sometimes adjusting the approach helps. Sometimes it means the fit isn't right, and that's okay too. You're never locked in.
