Teen Therapy in Burlington, VT
Telehealth therapy for teens, available online throughout Vermont.
When something is going on with your teenager, it can be hard to know what to do.
Maybe they've started pulling away or shutting down. Maybe they're telling you they're fine when you can clearly see that they're not. Maybe you've noticed something that worries you and you're not sure whether to push or give them space.
You're not going to get it perfectly right all the time. Nobody does. But getting them some support from someone who isn't you is often one of the most useful things you can do.
What teen therapy with me looks like
I work with teenagers ages 11 and up across Vermont via telehealth. I take the relationship I build with them seriously, because for teenagers especially, having a space that genuinely feels like theirs is often what makes the difference between engaging in the work and tuning it out entirely.
I'm direct with teenagers. I don't talk down to them or pretend everything is fine when it isn't. I'm curious about who they actually are and what's going on underneath the surface. Sessions are real conversations. Some of them are heavy. Some of them end up being kind of funny. The goal is for them to leave each session with something they can actually use.
I hold a Teen and Adolescent Counseling Specialist Certificate and bring that training into every session.

Some notes for parents
I know you want to know what's happening in sessions. That makes complete sense. You made the call, you care about your kid, and you're worried. Here's how I handle it.
-
Confidentiality is what makes the work possible. If teenagers know everything goes back to their parents, the conversations stay surface-level. So what's discussed in sessions generally stays in sessions.
-
Safety is always the exception. If I have concerns about your teenager's wellbeing, I will let you know. Beyond that, we can find a structure that keeps you informed about the general direction of things without compromising the trust your teenager needs to actually open up. That balance looks a little different for every family, and we'll figure out what works for yours.
-
Yes. If you'd like dedicated time to raise your own concerns, I offer separate parent sessions billed independently. These sessions are yours: a space to share what you're observing, not a report from your teenager's sessions.
Looking for your own support?
Parenting a teenager who is struggling takes a real toll. The worry, the frustration, the helplessness of watching your kid go through something hard: that's real, and it deserves its own space too. I work with parents directly. Reach out and we can talk about what Parent Support might look like for you.
Ready When You Are
Making the call for your teenager takes some courage of its own. You don't need the right words ready. Just reach out, and we'll go from there.
